Google Maps 4.6 for android

Google has launched Google Maps for Android that has been updated to version 4.6 to add amazing new features in its location-based services, in continuation of its efforts in Android application development. Google Maps 4.6 is made available to Android smartphone users running Android 1.6 or higher. The updated Google Maps 4.6 includes a redesigned Place Page Reviews, capabilities to provide more options to filter search results, and Google Latitude real-time updating feature. This enables users to explore new ways to locate nearby places powered by Google Maps for Android, such as the Places icon and rich Place pages.

Place Page Reviews

The enhanced design for Place Pages Reviews on Android very much appears with the same new design with a modified UI matching the desktop version. The new Place Page Reviews allows users to view:

Reviews from around the Web displays quality reviews about the place from popular sites.
Reviews from Google users enable users to voice their opinions that can be posted directly to Google Maps.

Filter options in search results

The search results can now be better filtered for some. Reading reviews is an important activity that people do before deciding if a place is right for them but users need to confine with which place page reviews to check out. In addition to Distance and Ratings, users can now narrow down Place Page Review search results by Open now, Neighborhood, and Related searches.

Google Latitude Real-Time Updates

Google Latitude real-time updating is an important feature added in the new Google Maps 4.6 for Android that enables users to choose real-time location update options from their friend’s Google Latitude profile page allows to temporarily see faster location updates (Requirement: Google Maps 4.6 with Android 2.2 to use this new tracking feature), according to Google apps developer team.
