Purchase options and add-ons

From the moment it was published almost ten years ago, Elements of User Experience became a vital reference for web and interaction designers the world over, and has come to define the core principles of the practice. Now, in this updated, expanded, and full-color new edition, Jesse James Garrett has refined his thinking about the Web, going beyond the desktop to include information that also applies to the sudden proliferation of mobile devices and applications.

Successful interaction design requires more than just creating clean code and sharp graphics. You must also fulfill your strategic objectives while meeting the needs of your users. Even the best content and the most sophisticated technology won't help you balance those goals without a cohesive, consistent user experience to support it.

With so many issues involved—usability, brand identity, information architecture, interaction design— creating the user experience can be overwhelmingly complex. This new edition of The Elements of User Experience cuts through that complexity with clear explanations and vivid illustrations that focus on ideas rather than tools or techniques. Garrett gives readers the big picture of user experience development, from strategy and requirements to information architecture and visual design.

Very bad quality of paper and printing
1 Star
Very bad quality of paper and printing
Feeling like I’m ripped off. I paid more than 50 USD for this book of less than 180 pages and still got so confused when received it. The paper is very thin and has a lot of noise on background. The printing quality is just bad! The author wrote about UX yet didnt understand a proper printing could bring a great UX. I dont even know whether I got a fake book, it doesn’t look authentic at all. Very disappointed.

Having worked in this industry for many years, I was pleasantly surprised to come across such a clear primer. Although this book borders on conceptual, it covers enough practical details to make it an invaluable resource for those new to the trade, or anyone looking to improve their process with industry best practices. This is a book I will now highly recommend to anyone new to our organization. It also provided me with a great set of tools to help explain the process to others (including clients). If you are an expert looking for specific details and/or a cookbook style approach, you probably want to look elsewhere -- for everyone else, it's worth picking up.

Its a great read for refreshing how you might do things and some of the why as well.

No matter your perceived technical or visual skill level as a web designer, this book will open your mind to the importance of proper user-centered design and experience. Case studies, diagrams, examples, and more. This book is a great first reader if you want to build web applications that are actually successful.

When I opened the package, I saw this very nicely printed book with astonishing graphic layout and content structure (of course, because it's done by a master of user experience design – this book testifies just that). I love reading this book! It is visually enticing and masterful content-wise. Even though I'm an industrial design student, I find the content highly relevant in my user-centered design and thinking process.

Great read. Gets you thinking through web design and UX design in general as a multi-leveled process, rather than just jumping head on. I do a lot of different types of design, and this book has helped to improve my thinking to be more organized and strategic about how I go about the various steps of the design and planning process.

JJG's elements of User Experience is an awesome book for the beginning UX designer. I never went to school for UX but after reading Steve Krug's Don't Make Me Think and JJG's Elements, I felt as though a lot of the design decisions I was already making were justified. JJG's visuals are well known within the industry and I have copies of them downloaded from his site and posted to the wall of my cube as reminders when I jump into any new project.

Very good quality!
Reviewed in the United States on March 3, 2018
I think that the this is a good book, but it kinda falls short ehen it comes to concrete examples of planning interaction.

As far as I understood, the author suggest using the framework described in the book for managing software solutions as a whole. The framework itself is not bad, but the scope, strategy and stru ture planes kinda try to steal away the glory from the good old fashioned software requirement specification document.

Very accessible and clear, this book is a pleasure to read, providing a method for User-Centred Design perfect for ‘evangelization’ of the discipline. A must-read to designers and non-designers alike, especially to anyone involved with or interested in the Product development cycle.
