Description
SimAnt explores the detail of the lives of ants, as you take full control of an ant colony. Build up your colony to conquer the other colonies in the yard. Foes include spiders and humans - make their lives a misery by invading their homes. A Quick Game option focuses on battles with other groups of ants, and a full Tutorial mode is provided. Biological detail of real ants is provided, to help make the package more educational.
In the full game the player starts out as the black queen ant who must start an ant hill and produce offspring to start the first colony. They control the output of types of ants between soldiers, workers, and breeders. Soldiers fight the enemy red ants and protect the ant hill, workers maintain the food supply and build out the ant hill, while breeders are used to start more ant colonies in the effort to take over the human’s property.
The player can switch from controlling one ant to another as necessary to do different tasks in the game directly. They can go out on the surface and collect green food dots, call in the troops and take down spiders and caterpillars or invade the red ants’ hill and kill them off. While out on the surface it is important to be careful not to drown in the rain or get killed by the lawn mower.
When there are populations of breeders, they can be dispersed to other sectors of the yard and house within three sectors of the current sector you’re operating from. Once a sector has a black ant hill on it, the player can move over to the newly populated sector and work from there to continue furthering the black ants.
The game is won when the red ants are exterminated from the play field and the human and his cat and dog are driven from their house by the overwhelming ant infestation which has been waged on them.

GREAT GAME
This game brings me so many memories. I wish I could have downloaded it from here. It has so much lag playing it in the browser.
Edit: Nevermind, I found it downloadable at other place. Here it is for those who want to play it locally.

I cant even progress farther than the tutorial
The game seems really good but for some reason when that tutorial tells you to: "Click on the map" I do that and for some reason, the music stops and it keeps asking me to do that even though I already did.

No Download?
It's a shame this game can't be downloaded so that I can play it on my computer and not have to put up with a slow internet connection.

Fun for nostalgia purposes
I remember spending actual hard-earned allowance and paper route money on this game back in the day. I can't remember how much it was but I remember it was A LOT for back then.
It was fun for about 3 hours. I had infested the whole house with ants and beat the game on my first play through.
I was like, 'That's it? I want my money back.'
I was cool and kinda cute but I wanted more! I guess my expectations were really high back then ;)
Oh and there's some educational stuff about ants in there too.

LOVE THIS GAME!!!
Old childhood favorite right here. Simple, cute, and really fun. I had some mouse/curser issues when I tried to play it at first, but then I went home and after I full screened it that issue went away. So, I suppose it's a browser issue? Cant wait for other sim games to pop up, like SimSafari and Sim Earth. Weeee :)

Played For Hours---Thank You
Reliving some childhood here! The game began getting slow and turning the music of fixed that. But then firefox started running slow and I refreshed the page. The game generally runs choppy and that's how the original ran. If your cursor starts to lag though, do refresh the page and reload the game. The game crashed when I tried to reload a save file. I think this game could use some attention. It's still fun to play!
The hotkeys (such as spamming ALT_2--calling the entire colony to fight) are easily found online. The game is still a lot of fun. I wish it ran smoother. Is it possible to make this game available for download? Right now it says *Stream Only*.

I am sad
I love Simant. I played it when I was five. I was very excited when I saw Simant on here. Due to technical difficulties with the mouse curser I am unable to relive my childhood joy. The game is also available streamed which makes it even worse because I can't download it and play it on DosBox.
