Markdown READMEs with file extension .mkd not rendered #362

Markdown files can have a variety of file extensions, as evidenced by this SuperUser answer.

This is due to the case statement here, which should be an easy fix, but wanted to hear if there were any concerns/complaints about this change.

Thanks your feedback! .mkd isn't usual extension but it's OK to add support. Trello card
