Web Mining Lecture Titles

Three of the most telling words in this visualization are “text”, “social”, and “network”. “Text” is important because it shows the connection between web and text mining, which we saw when looking at the text mining lectures previously. The “social” and “network” terms highlight the importance of network data in web mining.

Now we will look at how the length of the videos correlates with popularity.

Web Mining Lecture Views

This is interesting, because whether sorting by videolectures’s popularity metric or by pure view counts, we see very little correlation between video length and popularity. This is different compared to the other categories of lectures, where there is almost universally a correlation between longer video lengths and more popularity. Perhaps shorter, more concentrated videos have as much appeal as broader, longer videos when it comes to web mining lectures on videolectures.net.
